Me? Air Force?

Mon Dec 26, 2005, 6:01 PM
Yes, that is exactly that. I am thinking about joining the Air Force. It has racked at my brain for awhile now, not sure if I could or what, not knowing if I can handle 6 weeks of face yelling and not getting anything anything right. My cousin, being a Chief Master Sargent, thinks its a good idea to carry on the legacy, and i would just like some stability in my life with housing, money, defending my country, and possibly stay in it for awhile..who knows..

Any one in the last 3-4 years join the air force? If so, how was your BMT expirence? I'd like as much info as I can get.

feel free to comment here or mssg me on aol im or msn which is listed on this front page.

I was told that if you can handle the Air Force push-ups you'll do just fine. Lie on your back and see if you can push up! All kidding aside...trust your heart/gut! That is the only way to make your decision when you are confused! :) I hope the best for you!!!

Take care,
Kimo

My sis wanted to join the Air Force but because of this new law in military that when u join there's no "term" that u have to serve u're in it till u retire (65years of age...which they're now trying to make it 70), if u disagree it's treson and u're in for the smaller. There was a huge law suit cuz one army dude refused to be recruited cuz his term was up, but his term was up before the law was passed so he was let go and wasn't charged for treson.

U should really look into it before u sign up.

hm, thats odd, my cousin is in the military and you only have to be active for 20 years before you retire(he's in his 40s) , my b/f's brother just joined too, he's in for 3 years, If there was no term in military, I dont think many would join..

where did you read this?

It was briefly stated in the paper a while back, and in the BBC. In that fine print.

I'm trying to find the exact source.
I'm also trying to find out if chicks can join to be snipers.

I'm in the airforce. Basic Training is more about tearing you down and building you up psycologically, as much if not more than physically. It's all mind games. Depending on the job you get, you'll either love it or hate it. I have a computer job and i don't really like it, but i always have the option of cross-training into another career.

As far as the military in general, the air force is the "easiest", again, depending on the job. For example, if you work as military police you can expect to have a harder day than say, a photographer. There are definite benefits to the militiary, one being that you get paid every day, even when you're sick or on vacation, but there are also more sucky aspects, such as being told with two days notice to get your things together because you're being deployed.

When i first joined i couldn't do the physical requirements. I still suck at the run (shin splints now...) but trust me, you'll have LOTS of practice in basic. It's not all physical stuff either, you have to keep your area tidy (so far as to take a lint roller to the underside of your bed and in the corners) and studying airforce history in order to pass the basic test (thingie, i dont remember what it's called).

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me. If i don't know the answer right away, i can find out for you (being an insider and all). My recruiter didn't really tell me anything usefull except to bring quarter rolls instead of dollar bills to basic, since you have to record the serial numbers on your bills and every time you spend some of them or get new bills, you have to update it (you might think i'm kidding but i'm not).
